Making holidays easier for everyone

At Brive Tourisme, we are inclusive and leave no one behind… We recognise the additional difficulties that poorly adapted facilities can cause in the daily lives of people living with a disability.

The town of Brive is also aware of this issue and is implementing a disability project aimed at adapting urban spaces to ensure the inclusion of all residents.

Legislation now requires public-access sites and establishments to comply with standardised accessibility requirements. However, we know that sometimes, due to a lack of resources or space, what appears to be in place on paper is not always the case in reality...

Accessibility to our visitor centre

The tourist information centre is situated on Place du 14 Juillet in Brive, next to the Municipal Theatre, a 5-minute walk from the town centre. There are 3 disabled parking spaces available on Place du 14 Juillet. Disabled toilets are available under the Halle Brassens on Place du 14 Juillet.

Our Brive visitor centre has been awarded the ‘Tourisme & Handicap’ label for all four types of disability.

Physical disability

Sites and activities accessible to people with reduced mobility

Brive Tourisme has compiled a list of a number of visitor attractions and activities accessible to people with reduced mobility. These venues do not necessarily hold recognised accreditation, and this document has been drawn up based on our knowledge of what is on offer. Please do not hesitate to share your personal feedback with us so that we can update this information.

Our visitor centre in Turenne is on one level with a desk at a suitable height. It therefore offers easy access for people with reduced mobility. Seating is available for people with reduced mobility.

The Tourist Office is able to offer guided tours of Brive-La-Gaillarde and Turenne town centres adapted for the mentally disabled.

Hearing impaired

Guided tour of Brive, both orally and in sign language

For the first time, Brive Tourist Office offered a guided tour of Brive with simultaneous interpretation in sign language on 2 December.

Alice, a sign language interpreter, accompanied our guide Ani on a 1? hour walk through the heart of Brive la Gaillarde.

Visual impairment

People with visual impairments have not been forgotten and will be able to visit the centre of Brive-La-Gaillarde. The Tourist Office provides them with a version of the town’s historical map in Braille and large print.

Establishments with the “Tourisme et Handicap” label

You can also find out about the establishments recognised as having the “Tourisme et Handicap” label, which guarantees the quality of their facilities, even though this significantly reduces the number of options available.

Please do not hesitate to provide us with feedback if you encounter genuine difficulties at any of these establishments. We will endeavour to support them in better addressing the associated challenges, or we will remove them from this list.

Furthermore, if you’d like to attend shows, L’Empreinte – Scène nationale Brive-Tulle is developing an ambitious inclusive policy aimed at people with disabilities.
