Fancy getting straight to the heart of things without missing out on the essentials? This guided tour is for you. Over the course of an hour and a half, set off on a varied exploration of the town of Brive-la-Gaillarde, taking in its history, heritage and architecture. From characterful alleyways to iconic monuments, you’ll explore what gives this destination its soul. Led by a passionate (and, incidentally, incredibly knowledgeable) guide, let yourself be swept along through the must-see sights. Anecdotes, well-kept secrets and expert insights will bring this immersive experience to life.

  • From February to April and from October to December: the first Saturday of the month at 10.30 am.
  • May: every Saturday at 10.30 am
  • June and September: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10.30 am
  • July and August: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10.30 am and 3 pm; please note that the 3 pm tour may be cancelled in the event of extreme heat! 

Meet at the Tourist Office – Place du 14 Juillet.

Gourmet tours of Brive: meet, chat and taste!

What if the best way to discover Brive-la-Gaillarde were through your taste buds? This gourmet tour, as original as it is delicious, takes you to the heart of the town centre for an immersive experience combining heritage and gastronomy. As you wander the streets, you’ll meet passionate local producers, chat with them, and get a behind-the-scenes look at their craft. Here, local specialities aren’t just for looking at… they’re for savouring. Each stop is an invitation to taste, understand and appreciate what makes the region’s culinary heritage so rich. A friendly and generous tour, where culture and fine food go hand in hand. Just make sure you’ve worked up an appetite: it’s going to be put to the test.

Visit Turenne, one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages, and be amazed!  

Perched on its hilltop, Turenne doesn’t do things by halves. Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France (PBVF), it proudly displays its past… and its valiant character. Set off on a 1½-hour in-depth tour of this village steeped in history. Here, every stone has a story to tell, but you need to know where to look. Your guide will take you precisely to the places you wouldn’t have found on your own, revealing hidden details and charming anecdotes. A comprehensive tour combining heritage, panoramic views and delightful surprises. Watch out – you’re bound to fall in love with it.

Evening tour of Turenne by lantern light on 5 August

Perched on its hilltop, Turenne doesn’t do things by halves. Listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, it proudly showcases its past and its valiant character. For an hour and a half, by torchlight, set off to explore this village steeped in history!

Dress up to relive the history of Turenne, one of the PBVF

Step into the history of Turenne like never before! This guided tour in medieval costume is a lively and fun experience. Interactive and participatory, it invites young and old alike to immerse themselves in the life of one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France (PBVF). Costumes are provided and included in the tour price, so that everyone can easily step into the shoes of a medieval character. An original experience, suitable for children, which introduces visitors to the heritage and life of the Middle Ages whilst having fun.

Prices: €8 for adults and €4 for children aged 6 to 12 – meet in front of the Tourist Office at 8.00 pm (departure at 8.30 pm – booking essential as places are limited). Groups must consist of a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 people; bookings must be made by 5.00 pm on the day of the tour.

Les Mousta’chut: free guided tours led by local residents

Mousta’chut is a programme of free guided tours in the Terres Gaillardes, led by passionate local residents. Since 2021, Brive Tourisme has been connecting these residents with visitors to help them discover the region in an authentic and friendly way. These tours allow visitors to explore a range of themes, such as local history, heritage, traditions, local crafts, and even the local flora and fauna, thanks to the expertise of genuine locals.

Fancy exploring Brive-la-Gaillarde without spending the whole day there? The express tours are just the thing for you! Quick and focused, they highlight the town’s history, heritage and must-see attractions in just 20 to 30 minutes. Ideal for working people during their lunch break, or for anyone who wants to learn something new for free without disrupting their schedule. A short, effective and cultural experience: a proper lunch break that nourishes the mind.

  • Friday 6 February: tour of Rue de l’Hôtel de Ville. Meet at 1.15 pm on the forecourt of the Collégiale
  • Friday 6 March: Place de la Guierle. Meet at 1.15 pm in front of the Tourist Office
  • Friday 3 April: the Doctrinaires district – meet at 1.15 pm in the open space with the bench next to Crédit Agricole  
  • Friday 5 June: You’ll know the Collégiale inside out. Meet at 1.15 pm in front of the building.
  • Friday 4 September: The Collegiate Church is on the programme once again, still at 1.15 pm
  • Friday 2 October: Rue de l’Hôtel de Ville at 1.15 pm. Meet on the forecourt of the Collegiate Church

Brive: the birth of a modern city

The second Friday of the month. Delve into the history of Brive-la-Gaillarde and discover how the town was transformed at the dawn of the 20th century.

This unique tour takes you past the key landmarks that marked the city’s urban expansion and development following the arrival of the railway. Anecdotes, architectural details and little-known stories punctuate the route, offering an original and captivating experience. An ideal experience for those who wish to understand Brive from a fresh perspective, far removed from the usual tourist routes.

On the third Friday of the month, discover the Saint-Martin Collegiate Church from a unique perspective. This tour of the collegiate church takes you to the heart of a sanctuary city, where every stone tells a piece of history. On the programme: an in-depth and detailed exploration of the architecture, its secrets and its hidden treasures. Something truly unusual awaits you in the crypt, for a genuine ‘secret tour’ off the beaten track. Combining religious heritage with fascinating anecdotes, this experience will delight those keen to gain a deeper understanding of Brive and to delve into the soul of its central monument.

Secret walks in Brive: exclusive access within your reach

Every last Friday of the month.

What if Brive-la-Gaillarde revealed what it usually keeps hidden? For an hour and a half, this secret tour takes you on a journey that’s as intriguing as it is rare. This isn’t your typical tour: you’ll step through doors that are usually kept shut, explore hidden spots and enjoy an experience that’s almost impossible to access… except today. The tone is set right from the moment you’re picked up. Your guide opens the right doors for you (literally), shares anecdotes and insider stories, and helps you see the town in a whole new light. From hidden heritage to unexpected architecture, every stop holds its own share of suspense. A tour designed as a privilege, as much for curious visitors as for locals who thought they knew it all. Spoiler: they’re in for a surprise!

The tour, limited to a maximum of 10 people, will be interactive, featuring a quiz along the way with a few surprises in store.

Guided tour of Brive, interpreted both orally and in sign language

For the first time, Brive Tourist Office offered a guided tour of Brive with simultaneous sign language interpretation on 2 December.

Alice, a sign language interpreter, accompanied our guide Ani on a 1? hour walk through the heart of Brive la Gaillarde.
