As more and more dog owners are travelling with their pets, the Pays de Brive Tourist Office has signed up to the Toutourisme scheme to make organising your holiday easier and to help you find places where your faithful companion is welcome.
The Toutourisme label: a welcome tailored to holidaymakers travelling with their dogs
Launched in 2007 by the Troyes Tourist Office, the Toutourisme scheme aims to improve the welcome given to tourists travelling with their dogs. It is based on a simple belief: nowadays, pets are part of the family and deserve to be fully included in the holiday experience.
This initiative is based on three core values:
- Hospitality: welcoming visitors and their companions in the best possible conditions through personalised support.
- Information: providing reliable and practical information to help organise a stress-free holiday with your dog.
- Responsibility: encouraging good behaviour to foster harmonious coexistence between pet owners, local residents and visitors.

Why did we join the Toutourisme initiative?
We started from the observation that dog owners are travelling more and more with their pets. This is a group of guests we see a lot at reception, and who have specific expectations. You can’t go everywhere when you have a dog, and visitors need to know where to go and what to do with their pets.
As this is such a common request, we needed to know in detail what our partners actually offered beyond the simple statement ‘pets allowed subject to conditions’.
France is home to over 80 million pets (all species combined). Dogs are increasingly accompanying their owners on holiday. The label therefore meets a growing demand for pet-friendly tourism.
Joining the Toutourisme scheme was therefore a natural step. The Toutourisme kit and practical advice help visitors avoid stress and unpleasant surprises, enabling them to enjoy their stay to the full.
It enables us to build customer loyalty, join a strong network and give the destination greater visibility.
