During the autumn holidays, the days are still beautiful and we want to make the most of the outdoors. Here are some good ideas for you:

At the Jardins de Colette

This year, the Jardins de Colette have once again concocted a monstrously entertaining programme for sharing moments of laughter with friends and family. From 26 October to 3 November 2024, the programme will include special Halloween treasure hunts, a family show entitled "La Légende de Verbruntschneck" (on 27, 30 and 31 October and 1 November), Halloween pumpkin decorating, face painting (on 26, 27 and 31 October from 2pm to 6pm and 1 November), etc.

The Martel train celebrates Halloween

The diesel train will run on Thursday 31 October at 3pm and another on Friday 1 November at 3pm on the theme of Halloween. To mark the occasion, free travel will be granted to all children under the age of 12 dressed up in costumes. And that's not all! The children will also be given sweets.

Chills at the Lighthouse

From 19 October to 3 November: Will you dare to enter the lighthouse (Brive Tourist Office) transformed into a terrifying tower, overrun by shadows and mystery? Only the bravest will be able to venture to the top, where Cruella, the witch of the lighthouse, lives! Children can set off on their adventure with a booklet full of enigmas and mysterious challenges. Their mission? Answer cultural questions, solve riddles and take on fun little challenges. Nocturne at the Jardins de Colette : Garden Halloween Party on 26 October

Thrills and chills guaranteed at this nocturne organised in partnership with the Gaillard Académie! From 6pm, the whole family can come along to try and solve this escape game. Don't forget your torch! Available from 6pm to 9pm, reservations required by phone: 05 55 86 75 35.

Escape Game: the Haunted Manor in Allassac

The Pays d'art et d'histoire Vézère Ardoise is offering an escape game in Allassac. More than 100 years ago, when the Manoir des Tours was a school, some thieving pupils played a funny trick on their teachers... They stole the gold slate, the school's treasure, and hid it in a secret place... you have 45 minutes to help the ghost teachers recover it and allow their souls to finally find rest!

Escape Game: Les aventuriers de la crosse perdue in Donzenac

The Pays d'Art et d'Histoire offers this escape game from 21 to 25 October at 9.30am, 11am, 11.30am, 3pm and 4.30pm. Meeting point in front of the 13th-century house. Murder Party at Brive Media Library

It will take place on Friday 25 October at 7pm. Ages 6 and up. Bring your torch and pen. Registration on 05 55 18 17 50. Free admission.

An escape game at Parc Nature Evasion

Gaillard Academy

Halloween at Château de Pompadour

On 26 and 27 October, children can investigate in the Château grounds from 2pm to 6pm. (Price: €7) Also make-up workshops (€3) from 1.30pm to 5.45pm and maping at 7pm and 7.30pm (€5 per child and accompanying adult).

Halloween at the Maison Forte de Reignac

Throughout the All Saints' Day holidays, La Maison Forte de Reignac is offering paper riddles for children and riddles for adults to download on site.

Sports courses

The swimming pool is adapting its opening times for the holidays and the inflatable play area is back (open from 10am to 12pm and from 2.15pm to 6pm).

Halloween at the Brive Ice Rink

It's the big comeback for the Halloween celebration at the ice rink on Saturday 2 November, from 2.15pm to 10.45pm! Come and shiver in a Halloween atmosphere with the local clubs, who will also be on hand to accompany you during this exceptional event. Catering available on site.

L'Alchimiste glass-blowing workshop-boutique (Uzerche)

  • From 24 to 26 October and from 29 October to 2 November inclusive: Flower or blown ball mini-workshops: come and draw the petals of your flower in fusion or enclose your breath in a bubble. Also open to children aged 6-8 and over. Price: €35/person. Duration: 15 minutes. Flower or sphere to be collected the next day after gradual cooling. Times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 3.30pm, 4.30pm, 5.30pm. The Edmond-Michelet Museum

The Musée de la Résistance will be open during the holidays, from Monday to Saturday from 1pm to 6pm. You can also enjoy a workshop entitled "Dans la peau d'une artiste" (In the shoes of an artist) on 30 October at 3pm. Free with reservation on 05 55 74 06 08.

The Musée Labenche

The Musée Labenche is offering extra activities during the holidays. On the programme:

  • Wednesday 23 October: fun tour of the Face(s) à face(s) exhibition with games and interactive workshop. At 3pm. Children aged 5 and over accompanied by an adult. Registration on 05 55 18 17 70. Price: €5 - free for the accompanying adult.
  • Thursday 31 October: Halloween at the Museum from 2pm to 5pm. Games in the museum, a snack and a few sweets to grab. Come dressed up!

La Roque Saint Christophe

  • Demonstrations of lifting equipment and guided tours at 11.15am and 3.15pm, except on Saturdays.
  • Musique des Origines: times to be announced soon.
  • Games and workshops: Every day except weekends and 25/10, from 2pm to 5pm.

Le Manoir de la Salle

30 and 31 October: The Donjon, Manoir and Jardin de la Salle are transformed into a place of horror for the occasion! Pumpkins, spider webs, skulls, insects and bats will be everywhere on the site... To the delight of children, who will be plunged into the curious world of death. Come and take a self-guided tour of the site, decorated just for the occasion, and discover the Keep and the pretty Manor House with its motley collection of objects, the herbalist's shop and the attic with its fantastic animals.

Pauline Jardinacoach

  • Mondays 21 and 31 October and Saturday 2 November from 10am to 12pm: Botanical walk in the Parc des Perrières in Brive. Discover the edible wild plants of autumn! What are they? How can you recognise them? This walk will be an opportunity to learn more about the wild plants that surround you on a daily basis, and their culinary and medicinal uses. And don't forget to take some bags with you, because autumn is a bountiful season! Price: €10.
  • 23 October (6.30pm-8pm), 26 October (10am-12pm) and 29 October (2pm-3pm): discover edible plants along Brive'sgreen route. Meeting point in front of Les Rosiers church. Price: €10.
  • 23 and 30 October, 2pm to 4pm: Digiflore, a digital workshop on edible wild plants using mobile applications. Price: €14.
  • Wednesday 30 October, 10am to 11.30am: Successful family composting: You've had enough of throwing your compost waste in the brown city bin and would like to learn how to compost on your balcony or in your garden as a family. Have you already tried it, but the results were deplorable? In this introductory composting workshop, you'll learn the easy steps you need to take to use your compost in the garden! Price: €15. Meeting point at the Grotte de Saint-Antoine.

Are you a gourmet?

Bovetti Chocolate Museum

  • When you visit the Bovetti chocolate museum in Terrasson, you'll discover the history of cocoa, the work done on the plantations and the stages of processing... from the cocoa bean right through to the traditional chocolate-making process you witness. At the end of the tour, children (up to the age of 12) can make a mould to take away with their own reusable mould. The visit ends with the long-awaited moment of tasting, where a whole range of Bovetti delicacies are on offer. Museum open Monday to Saturday (10am to 11.30am and 2pm to 5pm). Adults: €4.90, children: €4.50 (with mould). Visits must be booked in advance on 05 53 51 81 53. You can also enjoy Halloween hot chocolate (€3.50).
  • Halloween drawing competition: after visiting the museum, draw your best picture on the theme "Your favourite Halloween chocolate product" and try to win a chocolate surprise. Draw at the end of the school holidays. 3 prizes to be won: an assortment of chocolate worth €35, €25 and €15.
  • Halloween activity on 31 October from 10am to 5pm: The witch's potion. The witch Trinitaria, at 258 years of age, is starting to lose her mind... She can't find her old book of disgusting recipes that made her famous. Unfortunately, her famous grimoire contained a list of ingredients for her famous magic potion, which turns spiders into butterflies and slugs into cute kittens.... In short, the potion that makes life brighter and happier! Our witch will be entrusting you with the perilous task of finding the disgusting and terrifying ingredients that go into her magic recipe, in the darkness of her attic, in well-hidden jars. Price: €6.50. Running time: 1 hour.

  • Wednesday 30 October and Saturday 2 November at 4pm: special Halloween film-snack "Mon petit Halloween": costume competition, photos, readings and tales of fright. A film + snack + entertainment for €5.

Anim'Halloween in Allassac

  • Halloween is coming early to Allassac and will be celebrated on Wednesday 23 October with :
    - a free cinema screening of "En avant" (Disney/Pixar, 2020) in the Salle Culturelle at 2pm
    - a sweets hunt at 4pm in the town centre shops (under the responsibility of an adult)
    - a fancy dress competition with 2 categories: under 6s and 6/12s. Participants will be evaluated before the film screening and the results will be announced on 24 October at 12 noon on the "Ville d'Allassac" Facebook page .

The prehistoric maze

From 19 October to 3 November, from 11am to 5pm, come on an expedition through the Halloween-themed labyrinth. You'll come across life-size mechanical prehistoric animals and terrifying people... for all the family.

Dive into the ultimate horror on 4 special evenings (under 10s not allowed) from 6pm to midnight: The Very, Very Scary Labyrinth! On 30 and 31 October and 1 and 2 November.
Brave souls and thrill-seekers, get ready for a terrifying experience to mark your Halloween! From 7pm to midnight, come and face the creatures of darkness. Scary screams and shivers guaranteed. Terrifying costumes highly recommended!

Do you like animals?

Mexican Halloween at theAquarium du Périgord Noir

From 19 October to 3 November: Immerse yourself in the colourful and festive world of the Mexican festival of the dead! El Dias de los Muertos! Halloween hunt, fancy dress competition with a big surprise in store, pumpkin/skull weigh-in, mystery boxes. From 11am to 6pm.
Children coming in disguise on 31 October will be offered a free place (before midday), and during the day they'll get a vampire pancake.

Gramat wildlife park

  • Wednesday 23 October: Board games day at 3pm. Nature Challenge Championship and Giant Kahoot Quiz
  • Saturday 26 October: Eat with the bears. At 7pm. Online booking required. An unforgettable gourmet dinner at the bears' table!
  • Wednesday 30 October: Animal tales at 3pm with Clément Bouscarel.
  • Thursday 31 October: Halloween Day from 10am to 6.30pm. FREE FOR CHILDREN IN FANCY DRESS. Treasure hunt, haunted lair, face painting, sweet surprises... Prize-giving ceremony for the wildlife photography competition
  • During all school holidays, feeding activities are offered to the public.

The City of Insects in Nedde

  • 23 October from 3pm to 5pm: "Insects to the rescue of the planet" event. Find out all about the fascinating, insignificant, repulsive and fearsome insects that are, above all, omnipresent and indispensable, with a tasting of insects!
  • 29 October from 3pm to 5pm: "The bee, sentinel of the environment". This event will end with a honey tasting and the making of a beeswax candle!
  • On 31 October, from 3pm to 6pm, the Insect City in Nedde is offering aHalloween beast hunt, with insect tastings and other weird stuff, plus gifts for everyone! In true Celtic style, come and celebrate autumn, which was the end of the year for the Celts, with a Halloween party for family and friends. For the Celts, Halloween was a day out of time when the living met the dead. Come dressed up and join in the hunt for the ugliest bugs! The museum, vivarium and garden will be your playground! Everyone will be rewarded for taking part in our Halloween party, but one family with the best disguise will get a special prize! And of course it's impossible to finish a day like this without a little insect tasting and other treats! You can also stock up on insects to munch on for your aperitifs.
