To mark the upcoming Heritage Days, we've put together a selection of child-friendly outings that are ideal for the whole family! Culture, history, creativity and games are all on the agenda for this weekend's celebration of France's national heritage.
After a presentation and explanation of the rules of heraldry (the science of the coat of arms), the workshop consists of creating your own coat of arms, but the most important thing is what you want to express. September 21 at 3pm. Ages 6 and up. Free workshop, limited number of places, registration required on 05 55 18 17 50.
The Commanderie de Mons in Varetz was occupied by the Knights Templar from the 12th to the early 14th century, then by the Knights Hospitallers of the Order of Malta until the French Revolution. During the Heritage Days from 20 to 22 September, the Knights Templar Commandery will be reliving medieval times, with a wide range of events on offer.
Medieval entertainment is provided by the Historia Aquitanorum troupe: equestrian demonstrations, re-enactments of life in the 12th century, clothing, weapons, calligraphy, food, etc. Equestrian performances at 10:30 am (Saturday and Sunday) and 4 pm on Saturday and 3 pm on Sunday.
Mission to free the works!
Form your research team and set off on a mission to free the stolen works hidden in the museum.
Investigation in the form of a clue game. In teams of 3 to 6 players.
Suitable for families. Book on 05 55 18 17 70
During a guided tour! On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September, there will be two guided tours at 11am and 4pm. It's a chance for the whole family to relive the life of the writer Colette, who lived for several years in Corrèze (at the château de Castel Novel). Children's games, a plant maze and a tea room will add to the fun of this cultural outing.
Practical info: Picnics available on site. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead.

For Heritage Days, the Bovetti chocolate factory is taking you back to the origins of cocoa through the ancestral methods used to prepare our chocolate drink, once known as "xocoatl".
From the cold, energising drinks of the Amerindians to the sweet treats of modern times, the cocoa beverage has undergone many changes.
Throughout man's travels and discoveries, the drink has been enriched with spices and sugar to become the sweet, warm, comforting beverage we know today.
Accompanied by a guide, you will rediscover the first uses of cocoa beans, from Aztec religious ceremonies to the rituals of the Spanish court, but above all you will try to reproduce the ancestral recipes that have travelled through history and continents.
Join us on Saturday 21 September to enjoy this timeless activity with your family or friends, as you travel through the civilisations of cocoa. Departures at 2.30pm and 4pm. Bookings on 05.53.51.81.53 - Limited number of places.
