A 100% Gaillard Dry January!

When diet rhymes with terroir!

After all the festive festivities, Dry January is the perfect time to give our liver a well-deserved holiday. Say goodbye to bubbles and spirits, and make way for joyful sobriety and healthy pleasures. But here in the Corrèze, and more particularly in Brive-La-Gaillarde, we don't do things by halves, and there's no question of depriving ourselves of what makes our region so rich!

Apple juice: the ideal Dry January drink

Why settle for plain water when you can enjoy a good 100% Corrèze apple juice? Cold-pressed, homemade and, above all, bursting with sunshine, it's a hit with non-alcoholic aperitifs. With local varieties like Balladurette, Sainte Germaine and Golden du Limousin, your taste buds will travel right to the heart of our orchards. And the icing on the cake (or apple, we should say) is that it's full of vitamins and antioxidants to get the year off to a good start.

Discover the apple juices of our local producers:

  • Lou Père Benoit : Benoît Berthy took over his grandparents' land in Objat to convert to growing old-fashioned apples. He grows around twenty local varieties in conversion to organic farming. You can buy his products at his stand in the Halle Gaillarde.
  • Le Pressoir du Manoir St Bazile: this traditional apple juice and wine-making business is also fully certified organic. Located in St-Bazile-de-Meyssac.
  • Teulet family organic shop: The Teulet family are arboriculturists. They produce organic apples, in particular the famous Golden Delicious apples from the Limousin. The shop in St-Yrieix-La-Perche sells fresh fruit and related products (fruit juices, ciders, fruit purées, honeys, jams, etc.).
  • La Cidrerie Janty: The cider house has been in existence since 1920 and produces apple-based products: brut, semi-dry or sweet cider, apple juice, sparkling cider, etc. Sold direct from the press at Condat-sur-Ganaveix, by appointment or in shops.

But don't forget the little dishes that keep you going!

A Dry January is no excuse to skip out on our culinary classics. Imagine a nice plate of mique and petit salé, a dish that warms the heart and legs after a winter hike. Or a calf's head, drizzled with a sauce ravigote (yes, even without wine, it's allowed). All accompanied by a glass of sparkling apple juice for a festive touch. As you can see, you can be sensible without giving up pleasure!
