The richness and variety of the collections on offer in the various museums and ecomuseums in the Brive region evoke different periods in history: from Neanderthal man (with the Neanderthal Man Museum at La Chapelle-aux-Saints) through the memorial sites of the Resistance (Edmond Michelet Museum) to the present day.

The region's traditional skills are also on show, with a visit to the Travassac pans a fine example.

Whether you're looking for a cultural visit full of history, or a fun family outing, the Corrèze region has plenty to offer.

Our selection of museums and ecomuseums to amuse or stimulate your curiosity!

Michelet Museum: a bold and responsible site!

  1. Aliving museum that aims to be more a centre of study than a place of remembrance.
  2. Conferences, symposia and temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year.
  3. Educational service open to teachers, with the possibility of making educational use of the centre's documentary and museographic resources (collection of propaganda posters, testimonies of members of the Resistance, media presenting the deportation, etc.).

Tip In the footsteps of resistance fighter Edmond Michelet

Does Edmond Michelet ring a bell? It was in the home of this early Resistance fighter that a Resistance museum was created. Here you can discover the exploits of the men and women in the shadows who helped Brive become the first town in France to liberate itself in 1945. You can also see one of the largest collections of propaganda posters in the world, before continuing your walk in the fresh air along the Chemin de la Mémoire in Sainte-Feréole.
