Looking for a nice spot to admire the beautiful countryside? In Pays Gaillard, we've got just what you're looking for! Today, off to Yssandon...

But what is it? A tower here?! Well yes, it's the last vestige of a medieval castle that was destroyed during the Hundred Years' War in the 15th century. To see that it has survived the ages, it still looks rather gaudy, don't you think?

On either side of this "summit", orientation tables give you a breathtaking view of the Brive Basin, the Monts d'Auvergne and the Périgord. It's well worth stopping and taking in the scenery!

  • The first orientation table is located near the Tower, at the top of a small knoll.
  • Take a few steps further, and there, behind the church of Saint-Hyppolite, at the outer corner of the cemetery to be exact, another viewpoint and explanatory table await you.

Below, the countryside opens up to you... you'll be tempted to stretch your legs... so don't wait, put on your hiking boots and set off to explore Yssandon!
