Reunions and cousins
Organising a get-together with family or friends is an opportunity to renew ties, to see and rediscover people close to you. Ideally located at the A20 and A89 motorway junctions, 2 hours from Toulouse, Bordeaux or Clermont-Ferrand, Brive is the ideal place for this type of reunion.
These gatherings of families or friends can take place over an evening, a weekend or a few days. Sometimes they are themed (cousinhoods, birthdays, weddings, christenings, stag and hen parties). Sometimes they are professional or affinity-based (seminars for colleagues, gatherings of people with similar interests). Lastly, these reunions may have no specific purpose other than to spend a good time with loved ones and create new memories.
Family get-togethers in the Pays Gaillard
Services tailored to family reunions
A real base camp for getting together, the Brive urban area offers all the amenities and services you could wish for, as well as preserved niches and cocoons suited to family reunions.
The facilities and entertainment of the city sit side by side with the authentic, genuine, simple and peaceful village life.
Open-air activities and exceptional cultural sites make family outings even more enjoyable, providing opportunities to pass on knowledge and share experiences between the generations.
Eating well with the family
Of course, the ideal holiday also includes good food and... how can I put this... in Brive, it's a bit... consubstantial! From grandma's tasty cooking to very refined dishes, when it comes to gourmet food, we know how to do it right!
Give your friends and family a break from junk food, introduce the younger ones to local produce, try the calf's head pâté so dear to the Chirac family (a well-known local family)... More ways to make your stay with friends and family a success.
Being from Correze and getting together in Terres Gaillardes
In fact, many of these groups are based on family roots, because the Correze diaspora has left a large number of its active members here, and our land is a symbol of union and reunion with one's family.
Visiting your grandparents, organising a "cousinade", holding family celebrations to mark the different stages of life: these are all emotionally-charged encounters that will cheer up both the grandmother and the youngest child.
And because your walls can be a hindrance to these gatherings, there are places near you that canaccommodate your entire lineage, restaurants that can fill you up so that you can enjoy your children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, etc., without restraint.
Friendly get-togethers too
In Brive, you can also get together with friends. And when you do, you don't necessarily get together with a huge group, but you do think of friends who don't necessarily live near you and who you haven't seen for a long time. This can be for a birthday, anniversary, wedding or house-warming, or for no particular reason at all...
With or without companions, with or without children, it doesn't matter, the most important thing is to enjoy these special moments in life with people you love! Talking, catching up with friends, partying, having fun and even having a laugh with your mates is a great way to take a break and recharge your batteries!
Brive: a perfect location
Coming from the 4 corners of France, you can find yourself in Brive thanks to the many infrastructures that this destination has to offer: the Dordogne Valley airport, Brive SNCF train station, or the intersection of major motorway routes (north-south with the A20, which is free from Gignac to Vierzon, i.e. around 300 km - that's exceptional enough to be highlighted - and east-west with the A89). This perfect geographical location makes it an ideal base camp for your reunion.
It's also an opportunity for our neighbours in Bordeaux and Toulouse to try out local tourism and 'go green' by enjoying wide open spaces and a generous, authentic natural environment. We're a long way from mass tourism, and you'll be able to relax and enjoy your tribe during your stay with us.
However, peace and quiet does not mean boredom. There are plenty of activities and events on offer (over 500 in the summer), and those who want to can visit the many nearby sites, including major ones such as Lascaux and Sarlat, which are less than an hour's drive away.
Practical information
If you are planning a fairly large gathering, don't hesitate to get advice from Brive Tourisme's sales department, which organises events and/or group visits. This will enable you to delegate some of the organisation of your stay.
