Walnut wine
Walnut wine is an excellent aperitif, often served in our favourite restaurants or at our Gaillards. It's even said to have the virtues of curing stomach upsets. Here's an easy, traditional recipe.
You'll need to be patient before enjoying this delicious beverage: it's made between late June and mid-July, and can only be enjoyed 6 months later!
Ingredients for 6 litres of wine :
- 5 litres de vin rouge corsé
- 1 litre d’alcool de marc
- 1.3kg de sucre
- 1 bâton de cannelle
- 1 bâton de vanille
- 3 clous de girofle
- 2 oranges
- 20 noix vertes
- Temps de préparation : 15 min
- Temps de cuisson : 0 min
Préparation du vin de noix :
- Cut the green walnuts and oranges into 4 and place in a large bowl.
- Add the sugar, brandy, red wine and spices and mix well.
- Leave to macerate and rest for 6 months.
- Bottle and enjoy.
This aperitif should, of course, be consumed in moderation!
