French tradition calls for delicious doughnuts to be eaten at Carnival and Mardi Gras. And in the Gascony region of France, we love tradition!

There are a thousand and one doughnut recipes, depending on the region. But they all have one thing in common: they're all fried in oil! And as our little gaillardes are on holiday, why not get them in the oven?

The ingredients

  • 250 g de farine
  • 25g de sucre
  • ½ sachet de sucre vanillé
  • ½ sachet de levure
  • 1 pincée de sel
  • 1 œuf
  • 40 g de beurre
  • 1 cuillère à soupe de rhum ou autre alcool
  • 2 cuillères à soupe de crème fraiche épaisse
  • Huile de friture
  • Sucre en poudre ou glace pour le dressage
  • Temps de préparation : 70 min
  • Temps de cuisson : 10 min
  • Pour 6 personnes

Préparation

  • Mix the flour, salt, caster sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  • Then add the egg, crème fraiche, melted butter and alcohol.
  • Knead until the dough is malleable, supple and non-sticky.
  • Leave to rest for around 1 hour before rolling out, then cut to shape.
  • Heat the frying oil.
  • Soak until golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and enjoy. Warm is even better!
