How about a bit of freshness? Nothing beats red fruit for that! Several farms in our region produce strawberries and/or raspberries.

We're a major producer of raspberries and strawberries... and a large part of the harvest is processed by companies that supply well-known restaurateurs and processors around the world. Ponthier and Valade, for example, produce fruit coulis and purées. You will no doubt be familiar with Andros and its famous jams and compotes.

Raspberries from A to Z

Whether yellow, white, wild or red as usual, raspberries are simply delicious. They grow on raspberry bushes and are harvested in summer.
They should be fragrant, bright and firm. This small, delicate fruit is particularly good for your waistline, as it is low in calories. Its benefits are numerous: it's an excellent source of vitamin C, folic acid, iron and potassium. Raspberries are also rich in bioflavonoids, which may help prevent cancer.

You can enjoy your raspberries freshly picked, in fruit salad, in charlotte... The recipe possibilities are endless!

If you want to experience a real moment of sharing and conviviality, go to the Fête de la framboise de Concèze, which takes place at the beginning of July. You can buy a slice of the largest raspberry tart in the Guinness Book of Records (8.04 m² in size and 187kg).

Do you prefer the sweetness of strawberries?

Thanks to the 30 strawberry producers in the region, you're in for a treat! The Gariguette and Mara des Bois varieties account for most of the production. If we had to tell you about one town in particular, it would undoubtedly be Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. Beaulieu's emblematic production attracts thousands of visitors during the strawberry festival in May. Like the raspberry, the strawberry is one of the lowest-calorie fruits. They are also very rich in vitamin C.

Fancy a strawberry? Don't go without! Strawberries can be eaten in all sorts of ways, in pastries, tarts, jams, sweet and savoury salads and even as an aperitif. A little strawberry mojito will delight your guests or simply your palate!
