Escape, be yourself! Eleven seasoned acrobats compete in a collective aerial act.
edward Aleman Neisa, the twirling head of the circus collective El Nucleo, invites eleven acrobats to take part in a singular protocol: stay in the air for ten minutes – counted down by a big stopwatch on the stage – over the course of an hour-long show. Bascules, trampolines and scaffolding serve as fulcrums for the jumps and lifts that follow one another at an intense pace, spurred on by Hicham Id Said?s raps and Alexandre Bellando?s guitar riffs. Each performer imposes his or her own style, expressing their singularity and their desire to fly through the air, alone or in groups? Because beyond the aerial prowess of this band of experienced artists, Salto also examines the logic of mutual aid, the obstacles and inequalities underlying any collective.
