The Canhopée Brewery in Voutezac

Publié le 18 April 2025 par su_laetis

Nestling in the heart of the Voutezac forest, the Canhopée nano brewery is a living tribute to nature and the art of craft beer from Correze. Its name, Canhopée, is a poetic celebration of its intimate connection with the forest that surrounds it. But what does Canhopée really mean, and why this singular choice?

Why the name Canhopée?

"Canopy" refers to the treetops in a forest, where biodiversity is most vigorously expressed and sunlight caresses the foliage. It is in this upper stratum that life flourishes in its greatest diversity. The delicate addition of the "h" in Canhopée is no accident. It symbolises hops, the essential climbing plant in beer production, which, like the plants in the canopy, reaches for the light. This play on words perfectly illustrates the brewery's philosophy: a constant quest for quality, authenticity and a deep respect for nature.

The beers of the Brasserie Canhopée

The Canhopée Brewery stands out for its range of tasting beers from Correze, made with respect for the brewing tradition and the environment. With no additives or preservatives, these beers are the fruit of a simple but rigorously selected composition: water, malts, hops, yeast and, for some recipes, a subtle touch of spices or aromatic plants. Unfiltered and unpasteurised, they offer a rich, authentic taste experience.

  • Ginkgo: this golden blonde ale seduces with its freshness and subtle notes reminiscent of the richness of nature.
  • Charme: as its name suggests, this beer with three hops bewitches with its complexity and power.
  • Mahogany: this red beer with malty, caramelised notes offers an exceptional roundness on the palate.
  • Birch: a light, refreshing white beer with hints of orange blossom.
  • Ebène: this black beer is deep and smooth.

This range is rounded out by limited-edition creations (Verbena, Hibiscus, Cocoa, etc.).
