It's autumn, and at Les Gaillards in Corrèze, we love food and festivities! These two passions are reflected in our autumn calendar, with a host of events and festivals to showcase our local produce in a convivial atmosphere.

Autumn calendar of gastronomic festivals

Apple festival in Brive (5 October 2024)

  • This autumnal fruit is always celebrated on a Saturday in October in the Place de la Collégiale. Visitors can sample apples in a variety of ways (pies, juices, compotes).
  • Children aged 6 to 12 can also take part in the pie-making competition.
  • There's plenty of free entertainment on offer all day long, including a merry-go-round, a brass band and an apple train.
  • New this year: a meal (apple pudding and dessert) available to eat in or take away.

The Baco nouveau festival in Saint-Robert (13 October 2024)

  • Baco Nouveau is a rigorous, early wine, harvested between late September and early October. It is highly coloured, tannic, rich in alcohol and slightly bitter. The festival takes the form of a festive market prepared by a large number of volunteers so that everyone can enjoy a variety of products: garlic rub, calf's head, black pudding, pancakes, desserts... The day is enlivened by an orchestra.
  • This is the 30th Bacco festival. The festival is held in the village square.
  • The fête du Baco nouveau is also an opportunity to share a festive day in Saint-Robert, one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Pumpkin festival in Chabrignac (19 and 20 October 2024)

Chabrignac is the place to celebrate Halloween's star vegetable! For the 28th edition of the festival, there's something for everyone, young and old, from entertainment to meals. The weekend just before the famous Halloween festival, pumpkins take centre stage in Chabrignac. This year's theme is "Pumpkins pay tribute to the Olympic Games".

  • The principle remains unchanged: a day dedicated to children on Saturday, with games throughout the afternoon. (Pumpkin seed throwing, wooden games, face painting, a bread workshop and a "super fiston" show.
  • Sunday: weighing of the big pumpkin and inauguration (10.30am), lunch under the covered market.
  • Afterwards, three French artistic unicycle champions will perform in the square, along with Mario and the Juillac brass band, and a sports-themed fashion show will be presented by local shopkeepers. All the events are free and open to all.
  • Numerous exhibitors will be on hand to showcase their wares. Over the two days, the bakers will be kneading and baking many batches of bread. Cucurbits will be displaying their size, colour and originality to the public.
