Discover our ideas for activities to keep your children occupied during the Christmas holidays and keep them waiting until Santa arrives.

Enjoy the magic of "Brive fête Noël

From 29 November to 4 January, the magic of the city centre will be on display, with a host of not-to-be-missed events: the arrival of Father Christmas on 6 December, the giant rides (Le grand 8 des Lutins and the Piste de rollers), the gourmet market and its entertainment, the grand parade on 21 December, the funfair......

Carousel rides

  • Brive has a carousel on the Place du Civoire and a funfair on the Place du 14 Juillet (until 4 January). New this year: the Grand Huit des Lutins(€4) in front of the Theatre and the Piste de Rollers (€4) next to the Collegiate Church.

  • Objat is also celebrating Christmas during the holidays. There's a merry-go-round for all ages in the town centre from 12 December to 3 January. See the programme under Christmas in Objat.

Have fun while staying warm

  • Monday 22 December: MACRAMÉ
    Make a unique macramé object. - Duration: 2 hours - From 10am to 12pm

  • Monday 22 December: VIDEO GAMES WORKSHOP
    Create an interactive video game using Scratch, a free online software programme designed especially for young people. Participants will go home with their own game, which they can continue to create at home. Duration: 3 hours - 2pm to 5pm

  • Tuesday 23 December: BRAZILIAN BRACELET
    Braid a bracelet of threads in Christmas colours. Duration: 2 hours - From 10am to 12pm

    Create rings to give as presents under the Christmas tree. 2 hours - 2pm to 4pm

  • Monday 29 December: DECORATE A WORK OF ART
    Andy Warhol and pop art. After discovering a painting technique in an unusual way, take inspiration from the artist to create your own work. Duration: 2 hours - 2pm to 4pm. From age 7 // €15

Christmas tea parties

Claire Mounet, sophrologist, invites you to come and share a Christmas snack with your parents or grandparents, during which you will discover the benefits of Caycedian sophrology. Bookings required. On 23, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31 December and 2, 3, 4 January 2026. Reserved for children aged 4 to 12. Bookings by telephone on 06 60 89 38 07.

Go to the cinema

  • Ciné-goûter at the Rex with the screening of La Petite Fanfare de Noël on 24 and 27 December at 4pm. Father Christmas will be there on the 24th! From 3pm, there will also be colouring, games, storytelling and photos.
    Reservations strongly recommended on the website or at the Rex ticket office.

Discover or rediscover typical villages

  • Randoland is a fun way to discover the region! No more dragging your feet on the trail, you're the one who's behind the plot! Courses available in Yssandon, Estivaux and Lissac sur Couze: click here.
  • Geocaching Tèrra Aventura: this fun game will lead you straight to the treasures! Download the application from your smartphone and set off in search of the famous caches! You'll find them in Vars-sur-Roseix, Sainte-Féréole, Chartrier-Ferrière, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Saint-Robert, Donzenac and Ayen. Find all the information on the Tèrra Aventura page.
  • Game booklets: Brive Tourisme also provides game booklets to help you discover Ayen, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Donzenac, Yssandon, Saint-Robert and Turenne from a new angle. These booklets are available from Brive Tourist Office or can be downloaded HERE.

Themed visits to tourist sites

Féerie des Lanternes at Castel Novel

This winter, the most spectacular and grandiose festival in Northern Europe will be taking place at Castel Novel, opening the doors to a parallel world where the strange becomes marvellous and the imaginary comes to life before your very eyes. Visitors are invited to experience a never-before-seen nocturnal journey with La Féérie des Lanternes, a Kingdom of Lights, the castle's first major lighting event.
From 5 December 2025 to 15 February 2026, from 5pm to 11pm.
Open Thursday to Sunday outside school holidays and every day during school holidays.
Free on-site parking. Fast food available on site.

Gramat wildlife park

  • The Parc animalier de Gramat: Listen to the mysterious sounds of the forest and marvel at the luminous animals hiding in the woods... A magical, immersive experience awaits you at dusk in the heart of the park. Programme: 6.30pm: arrival at the Park; 7pm: wolf feeding; 7.30pm: hot drink by the fire.
  • Friday 26 December: Santa Claus distributes presents in the Park, feeds the reindeer, puts on make-up and offers plenty of other surprises.

Bovetti Chocolate Museum

  • Bovetti celebrates Christmas! To mark the occasion, the Bovetti chocolate factory is offering a tour of its museum to all children with a sweet tooth and a passion for chocolate on Wednesdays 10 and 17 December, booking in advance at 05 53 51 81 53.
    You can also enjoy the magic of the Christmas decorations and automatons, with Father Christmas conducting the orchestra.
    Admission is free for children (aged 3 to 12) and includes a visit, the making of a chocolate mould and a tasting session. Visits must be booked in advance by calling 05.53.51.81.53.

Take a breath of fresh air while hiking

Whether you're a keen walker or not, we've got a range of walking routes to suit all abilities. It's a great way to get some fresh air between meals and get some exercise. You can find a selection of trails HERE.

And don't forget the Voie Verte (Green Way) along the Corrèze and Vézère rivers... A gentle path to follow on foot or by bike.

Stroll through the local markets

Truffles, foie gras, confits, chestnuts.... We're lucky to have stalls brimming with mouth-watering local produce. Don't hesitate to visit one of the many markets in our cheerful, gourmet region! Brive-La-Gaillarde (and its controlled truffle market), Objat, Malemort, Allassac... Not forgetting the Halle Gaillarde, a wonderful showcase for our local produce.
