Discover our ideas for activities to keep your children occupied during the Christmas holidays and keep them waiting until Santa arrives.

Enjoy the magic of "Brive fête Noël

From 7 December to 5 January, the magic of the city centre will be on display, with a host of not-to-be-missed events: the arrival of Father Christmas on 7 December, the giant merry-go-rounds (the Christmas tree merry-go-round and the Ferris wheel), the gourmet market and its entertainment, the grand parade on 22 December, the funfair......

Carousel rides

  • In Brive, you'll find a carousel on the Place du Civoire and the funfair on the Place du 14 Juillet (from the 7th). New this year: the giant Christmas tree (€4) in front of the Theatre and the return of the Ferris Wheel (€4) from 14 December.

  • Objat is also celebrating Christmas during the holidays. Among the activities on offer, young and old alike can enjoy a merry-go-round in the town centre from 13 to 3 December. See the programme under Christmas in Objat.

Have fun while staying warm

You don't have to be outdoors to enjoy a thrill! Escape games, laser games and even virtual reality helmets give you an adrenalin rush. See our Indoor activities section.

Workshops at the Brive cultural centre

(bookings on 05 55 74 20 51 - equipment provided for all activities)

  • Theatre workshop: 23 December. 10am to 5pm with a performance at the end of the session. Ages 9 and up. Price: €20
  • Jewellery workshop: 23 December from 10.30am to 12pm or from 2pm to 3.30pm. For children aged 10 and over. Price: €5
  • Crochet workshop: 27 December. From 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 4pm. For children aged 8 and over. Price: €20
  • Basketry workshop: 30 December. From 10am to 12pm or from 2pm to 4pm. Ages 8 and up. Price: €10
  • African dance: December 30. From 10am to 12pm. For children aged 6 and over. Price: €10.
  • Macramé workshop: 3 January. From 10am to 12pm. Ages 8 and up. Price: €10

Brive multimedia library

(Information: 05 55 18 17 50)

  • Saturday 7 and 14 December : children can come to the Médiathèque in the town centre from 3pm to 4.30pm to write a nice letter to Father Christmas. Children aged 2 and over must register on 05 55 18 17 50.
  • Wednesday 11 December: "Bouts de ficelle et sortilèges" show at 3pm at the Médiathèque Michel Dumas. Free admission by reservation on 05 55 18 27 69. Show lasts 50 minutes. This show is suitable for children aged 5 and over.

Objat multimedia library

  • A reading workshop is being organised at the Médiathèque in Objat on Saturday 14 December from 2.30pm with the author Christian GAUT.

A la Croisée des Mots bookshop (Brive)

  • Readings on 28 January (as every last Saturday of the month) in partnership with the association Lire et Faire Lire. Books are selected for an age group of around 3-6 years. From 10.30am to 11.30am.

Discover or rediscover typical villages

  • Randoland is a fun way to discover the region! No more dragging your feet on the trail, you're the one who's behind the plot! Courses available in Yssandon, Estivaux and Lissac sur Couze: click here.
  • Geocaching Tèrra Aventura: this fun game will lead you straight to the treasures! Download the application from your smartphone and set off in search of the famous caches! You'll find them in Vars-sur-Roseix, Sainte-Féréole, Chartrier-Ferrière, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Saint-Robert, Donzenac and Ayen. Find all the information on the Tèrra Aventura page.
  • Game booklets: Brive Tourisme also provides game booklets to help you discover Ayen, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Donzenac, Yssandon, Saint-Robert and Turenne from a new angle. These booklets are available from Brive Tourist Office or can be downloaded HERE.

Themed visits to tourist sites

Gramat wildlife park

  • The Parc animalier de Gramat: Listen to the mysterious sounds of the forest and marvel at the luminous animals hiding in the woods... A magical, immersive experience awaits you at dusk in the heart of the park. Programme: 6.30pm: arrival at the Park; 7pm: wolf feeding; 7.30pm: hot drink by the fire.

  • 27 December: Christmas Day at Parc de Gramat: What's on the programme? Father Christmas will be handing out presents, reindeer feeding, face painting and lots of other surprises. At the end of the day, you can also enjoy the Enchanted Forest illuminations.

Bovetti Chocolate Museum

  • Bovetti is celebrating its 30th Christmas! To mark the occasion, the Bovetti chocolate factory is offering a visit to its museum to all children with a sweet tooth and a passion for chocolate! Every day from 04 to 21 December, Bovetti will be opening its doors to children curious to explore the intoxicating world of handmade chocolate, its history, its origins, its scents... Admission is free for children (aged 3 to 12) and includes a visit, the making of a chocolate mould and a tasting session. Visits must be booked in advance by calling 05.53.51.81.53.

Take a breath of fresh air while hiking

Whether you're a keen walker or not, we've got a range of walking routes to suit all abilities. It's a great way to get some fresh air between meals and get some exercise. You can find a selection of trails HERE.

And don't forget the Voie Verte (Green Way) along the Corrèze and Vézère rivers... A gentle path to follow on foot or by bike.

Stroll through the local markets

Truffles, foie gras, confits, chestnuts.... We're lucky to have stalls brimming with mouth-watering local produce. Don't hesitate to visit one of the many markets in our cheerful, gourmet region! Brive-La-Gaillarde (and its controlled truffle market), Objat, Malemort, Allassac... Not forgetting the Halle Gaillarde, a wonderful showcase for our local produce.
