European Sustainable Development Week

Sustainable Development Week lasts several weeks and takes place from 18 September to 8 October 2024.

The United Nations has adopted 17 sustainable development goals to be achieved by 2030. In Gaillard, a number of initiatives are being taken that deserve to be highlighted during this week.

L'Écolot: competition

Brive Tourisme is organising a competition from 20 September to 8 October: "L'Écolot".

There are 6 prizes to be won. You'll be able to find great deals and ideas for environmentally-friendly holidays.

Wednesday 18 September

  • Face Limousin educational flat in Tujac (44, rue Jean Baptiste Toulzac): Workshop on making glass markers and saving water - Registration with Mélanie ROUX, Educational Apartment Coordinator, on 06 14 51 37 41.
  • Activities at the Parc des Perrières in Brive: a day dedicated to Brive social centres and the general public, on the theme of water and biodiversity, with three activities:
    - The creation of a water fresco by the SIAV - 5 to 8 people - lasting 3 hours with the association EAU'DYSSEE
    - A fun activity on the water cycle, punctuated by scientific experiments to discover the path of domestic water and the importance of preserving the region's water resources.
    - A visit to the Brive apiary by the Abeille Corrézienne association - the role of bees in biodiversity, how honey is produced, pollination, etc. Presentation of the glass hive and film about bees.
  • Nature outing organised by the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels Nouvelle Aquitaine: A l'abri des grottes et des falaises de la Vallée (RDV 13h45)- Come and discover the special plant communities of the caves and cliffs of the Vallée de Planchetorte.

  • Visit to the sorting centre at St Jean Lagineste (LOT) - departure by bus (free) at 13h30 from the 3 Provinces car park, arriving at 14h30. Allow 2 hours for the visit. Please register with Mme Pagnon at the SIRTOM: mpagnon@sirtom-brive.fr

Thursday 19 September

  • Face Limousin educational flat in Tujac (44, rue Jean Baptiste Toulzac): Visit of the educational flat at 2.30pm. To register, contact Mélanie ROUX, Educational Apartment Coordinator, on 06 14 51 37 41.

Friday 20 September

  • Apéro Zéro Déchet, organised by the Brive Zéro Déchet association in the square Auboiroux in partnership with the shopkeepers of the Halle Gaillarde. Everyone brings whatever they like, but at the end of the day, there must be no waste left over.
    The City of Brive/OME will be offering a drink to mark the start of the 3-week programme:
    - Running a Suez Water Bar to promote tap water
    - Promotion of the Brive Ville Amie des Enfants partnership and link with UNICEF activities
    - La ressourcerie Gaillarde: bike repair workshop with educational support from Atout Vélo and bike school workshop with theoretical and practical courses from ADER mobilité.
    - Brive Ville Cyclable: awareness-raising campaign on urban traffic rules and cycle tour
  • The Athéna Studio association: synthesiser-making workshop using old toys


Saturday 21 September

  • L'association Zéro déchet Brive: In the morning: workshop and awareness-raising stand during the sale at the Emmaüs boutique in Brive.

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September

  • Clean Up Day: Brive's neighbourhoods are getting involved. A citizens' clean-up action to collect abandoned rubbish that pollutes the environment.
    Wards 2, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 17 of Brive will be taking part.

Monday 23 September

  • Objat: from 9am to 6pm, an information day on housing for landlords at Objat town hall. Personal discussions without appointment.


Tuesday 24 September

  • The City of Brive's Green Spaces Department is offering an afternoon guided tour of the tree heritage (remarkable trees) in Brive city centre by Monsieur Arbre - Discover the city's stalwart trees as you stroll through the streets, squares and gardens. Friday 27 September

  • Café debate in Ayen: the wildlife of the Corrèze with Pascal Aymard, wildlife photographer - 7.30pm at the Arboretum de la Tuillière pavilion at Soulet d'Ayen.


Tuesday 1 October

  • From 2pm, Brive's green spaces department will be holding a practical workshop in Brive's municipal greenhouses (chemin des Baysses - St Pantaléon de Larche) - Come bare-handed or with your green plant and its container and find out how to look after them properly.

Wednesday 2 October

  • Visit to the Brive wastewater treatment plant for children from Brive social centres.
  • The Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels Nouvelle-Aquitaine (New Aquitaine nature conservation body) is offering a participatory work camp: "From wet valleys to dry hillsides " starting at 9.30am: the morning will be devoted to fencing off several ponds to protect their surroundings from cattle trampling. The afternoon will be devoted to counteracting the dynamics of overgrowth on a marsh grassland. Depending on the day's temperatures, these two workcamps may be interchanged - bring suitable clothing and a picnic.     - ARBRE: Book collection in partnership with the education department and Brive city schools
    - Collection of used batteries in schools.
