Donzenac and the Travassac walls
Take a stroll to Donzenac, north of Brive, a seigneury that once belonged to Catherine de Médicis. Discover an original and intimate medieval heritage, with one of the last remaining 13th-century houses, the Chapel of the Penitents...
The nearby Travassac slate quarry, with its immense walls of slate, is still in use and takes you into another dimension during the season. The excellent quality of the slate meant that it was chosen to cover Mont-Saint-Michel when it was restored. Passion and expertise are at the heart of this unique visit!
Allassac and the Tour César
Next, a diversion to Allassac, home of the Country of Art and History Vézère Slate. The 14th-century fortified church, with its fine Baroque furnishings, and the Caesar Tour ("overlord tower"), from which you have a lovely view over the countryside, are waiting to take you back in time.
Le Saillant and Marc Chagall's stained glass windows
Continue on to Voutezac-Le Saillant to see the six-arched medieval bridge and the chapel (the only monument in France where all the stained glass windows are by Marc Chagall)! Taste the wines of the Coteaux de la Vézère, wines with a traditional, local flavour.
Sainte-Féréole and the local farmers' market
For a well-deserved rest and a great atmosphere, make the most of Thursday evenings at the local producers' market in Sainte-Féréole! Let yourself be carried away by the local delicacies on offer and the festive atmosphere.
