Ideas for holidays with baby

Going on holiday with a baby can be a source of anxiety and even a real obstacle course. So at Brive Tourisme, we've decided to make life easier for you by sharing our top tips for discovering the Pays Gaillard with your little ones!

Where to take baby for a walk?

With nappies to change and bottles to feed, it's sometimes difficult to visit a village or museum in peace and quiet. So why not take baby for a walk? Here are a few suggestions for places where it's great to take the family for a walk.

Greenways

  • In the centre of Brive, the voie verte runs for 11 km. Reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, it's the ideal place for a safe walk with children. The path, which is shaded in certain areas, is totally suitable for pushchairs. And if you're very sporty, you can follow the whole of the 18km greenway from the Pont de Granges in Saint-Pantaléon-de-Larche to Aubazine station.
  • Another town, another greenway. In Objat, there's a 2km nature trail around the lake at the Espace de loisirs Jacques Lagrave.

Nature trails

  • In Saint-Viance, the Chemin des pêcheurs is a 3km circuit winding through the countryside. The path is flat, shady and even runs alongside the River Corrèze in places. Perfect for those in search of a refreshing walk in the middle of summer!
  • In Lissac-sur-Couze, you can walk around the Lac du Causse - a 7km route - on pleasant paths that are sometimes shaded.

However, we only recommend these two routes if you have a pushchair suitable for all types of terrain.

Les Jardins de Colette

Just next door, in Varetz, the Jardins de Colette welcome young and old alike for a botanical and playful journey in the footsteps of the novelist Colette. Don't miss the giant butterfly maze. But beware, you'll have to be clever to escape!

Where can you take your baby for a nap?

In the middle of exploring the Brive region, you'd like to find a quiet spot for your child to take a nap and you don't know where to go? Don't panic, we've got some very nice spots to recommend. So follow the guide!

The public gardens

  • Right in the heart of Brive, the Jardin public de la Guierle is an ideal place to relax in the shade of two-hundred-year-old plane trees, with the sound of birds in the background.
  • You can also visit the Parc des Perrières, with its 17 hectares of greenery and beautiful views over the town.

A nap by the water

  • Does your little one prefer the sound of water to fall asleep? No problem! In Voutezac, at the foot of the Saillant bridge, you'll find a charming, peaceful rest area on the banks of the Vézère.
  • Another idyllic setting for a nap is the Lac du Causse, with its wooded areas near the beach.

Where can your toddler play?

After a walk or a nap, it's time to play. The Brive region is full of play areas for children of an active age.

Play areas

The great classic is the outdoor play area.

  • Brive has sixteen of these throughout the town. The one at Parc de la Guierle, for example, is even accessible for children with motor disabilities.
  • The Espace de loisirs Jacques Lagrave in Objat has a completely child-friendly area with a slide, turnstile, zip line and other outdoor games.
  • At the Pont du Saillant and Lac du Causse, play areas are set up right next to the picnic areas.

Multi-activity parks

For something a little more original, you can visit the multi-activity parks located near Brive. Some of them offer activities accessible from the age of 2.
