View of the Travassac slate quarries

For your group outing, we suggest that you combine visits to the must-see sites: the historic heart of Brive, the Denoix Distillery and the Pans de Travassac.

The historic heart of Brive

Brive-la-Gaillarde, the brave, the fortified. A guided tour of the historic centre is a must if you want to get the full measure of this city at the crossroads of the senses. The old town centre, once surrounded by a wall, is home to a number of town houses dating from the 14th to 18th centuries, the 14th-century Chapelle Saint Libéral, the 12th-century Collégiale Saint Martin...

The Denoix Distillery

Located right in the heart of the town centre, the Denoix Distillery is a genuine institution, recognised as a Living Heritage Company and handed down from generation to generation. Since 1839, plants have been distilled, fruit macerated and green walnuts pressed, all using the same methods and recipes from an old grimoire. From family portraits to Jean Lurçat tapestries and the history of stained glass windows at La Denoiselle, you'll leave with a wealth of information and culinary advice! You're guaranteed to be immersed in the Denoix family, and some of the distillery's secrets will be revealed! The tour is accompanied by a tasting session.

The Pans de Travassac

We invite you to discover a site that is unique in Europe: the Pans de Travassac, or the world of the slate quarrymen who have been working the stone in an exceptional setting since the 17th century. The cliffs, minerals and vegetation blend perfectly to create a majestic spectacle.
