View of the outside of the Halle gaillarde. A couple sitting on a bench in front of the entrance

The Halle Gaillarde is intended to "restore the attractiveness" of the south-Brive sector, asserting its "commercial function" and enhancing the historical and built heritage of the surrounding area.

Its architectural signature has earned it the nickname of the Cathedral of Gastronomy. It was designed and built by local companies, with soft, pleasant acoustics, and is bio-air-conditioned.

La Halle: a bold and responsible site!

  1. An air-conditioned organic building located in the heart of the town, offering a range of foodstuffs not available in supermarkets
  2. A showcase for quality local produce
  3. At lunchtime, there's plenty of opportunity to get together and share thanks to the food courts set up throughout the Halle.
  4. La Halle Gaillarde has become the place to be on a Sunday morning for breakfast, brunch or lunch with family and friends.

A wide choice of quality products

Opening at the end of 2019 on the Place Tassigny, the Halle is now home to a large number of retailers.

From butcher to delicatessen, from baker to cheesemonger...

  • Le Comptoir de Clément (delicatessen, Italian and truffle products): Clément offers a selection of artisanal products, olive oils, honeys, pasta, mustards, truffles, mushrooms, charcuterie...and why not try some coquillettes with ham and truffle cream?
  • L'Atelier de Nico (Coffee shop and tea): Barista Nicolas shares his passion for coffee and tea in all its forms. Hot dishes served in jars and pastries of the day complete the offer. We love having tea at the counter!
  • Yohan Carlier catering chef: This is the Halle's caterer. On the spot, you'll find everything you need to put together a full plate, from rotisserie products to traditional cooked dishes, Yohan can adapt to your every need! Don't forget to order for your festive meals with friends or family!

  • Chez Lou Père Benoît: Benoît Berthy, a local producer of old-fashioned apples, offers ciders, juices, compotes, fruit and vegetables from his kitchen garden and a range of other products with a retail stand! A hot new concept!
  • Mon petit Paris: Hugo and JB are delighted to announce the birth of "Mon Petit Paris"! The Café de Paris needs no introduction. A different place, a different atmosphere: counter-style cooking, rotisserie, dish of the day, burgers... the Gaillarde'touch!
  • L'Annexe du Tastevins: The "Les domaines du Tastevins" shop has set up shop in La Halle with the aim of offering an original and wide-ranging approach to wines from France and elsewhere. The team will be happy to advise you on how to enhance your festive occasions and impromptu aperitifs.
  • Maison Farges, florists: 3 generations of women take turns offering plants, floral arrangements and cut flowers. They know how to adapt to your needs. Accessible outside the Hall's opening hours, for all occasions, say it with flowers!
  • The Kiosk: Brive's last historic kiosk has simply been moved a few metres to a more convivial location. Like the florist, it has easier access outside Halle opening hours. Scratch tickets, daily or weekly newspapers - there's always a kiosk near you!
  • Paul: Paul's bakery needs no introduction. Right in the heart of the Halle, a range of sweet and savoury treats: breads of all kinds, patisserie and sandwich shop all flourish under this cathedral. To be enjoyed without moderation!
  • La boucherie Cheville: a vast choice of home-made meats and charcuterie, as well as a delicatessen section to satisfy both young and old. A wide variety of delicious, top-quality products you won't want to do without.
  • La Ferme du Puy Lenty: Breeder and producer, Hervé is the benchmark for goat's cheese. The goats are bred in the fresh air of the Corrèze, just a stone's throw from here! You'll even find fancy cheeses like cabécous apéros, fresh goat's cheese with truffles (in season), or flavoured with figs or garlic and parsley...
  • Radiane: Need to get away from it all? Attracted by the smell of spices and simmering dishes, there's no doubt about it. At Radiane you'll find dishes, oriental pastries and spices!
  • Poisson Gaillard: Florian Gérard offers a wide range of fish and shellfish from daily deliveries. A "seafood catering" section will soon be added.

A place for entertainment

In summer, events and concerts are regularly scheduled thanks to a partnership between Brive Tourisme and the association of Halle shopkeepers. Every Sunday, a concert is held on the terrace in the late morning. Tables and chairs are set up, so you can enjoy food bought from the Halle's shopkeepers while taking in the musical entertainment.

Bon plan La Halle Gaillarde, a meeting place for gourmets

View of a young woman carrying a shopping bag and heading towards the entrance to the Gaillarde market.

It's a market where we advise you to bring a big basket because the stalls are so tempting. Here you'll find the culinary specialities for which Brive la gourmande is famous: foie gras, cheeses, walnuts, strawberries, raspberries... as well as delicatessen and burners... It's hard to resist all these temptations, and no one will reproach you for sitting down at a table for a little snack. A new, friendly place where people like to linger over lunch or simply "break bread".
