Brotherhoods
Fellow gourmets come together to celebrate good food!
In the land of the Gaillardes, you won't find anyone to tell you that they don't like gastronomy! However, some people are more passionate than others, as is the case with the brotherhoods in Corrèze.
First of all, did you know what a confrérie is? Initially, the brotherhoods had a religious aspect. They existed to help each other and perpetuate a tradition. After the French Revolution, the religious aspect disappeared, giving way to the confraternities of taste and gastronomy. The aim remained the same: to perpetuate a tradition and protect the land.
This is the case of the Confrérie des goûteurs de pêches de Voutezac, for example, which claims to grow the best peaches in the world. It was founded in 2003 with the induction of 8 members. By 2012, 38 members were promoting their precious fruit, in particular by organising the Voutezac peach festival.
The Confrérie du veau de lait élevé sous la mère du pays d'Objat, the Confrérie du boudin noir and the Confrérie Mycogastronomique, which is devoted to mushrooms and truffles, are also part of the Confrérie.
