The history of the pea in Corrèze
For years, this small vegetable was grown on our land and a more or less controlled name was created: Objat capitale des-Petits-Pois.
These wonderful years were made possible by the arrival of the railway. This event changed the destiny of the entire region. Exports began and the economy took off.
The "Gloire de Corrèze
Today, pea production is much reduced, and is only practised by a few nostalgic enthusiasts. The people of Objat, who knew the great pea era, are not short of anecdotes about this local vegetable. In particular, they'll tell you that it was the "Gloire de Corrèze" variety of pea that boosted production.
The pea is still fondly remembered and is a genuine local product. You can attend the pea festival in Objat on the last Sunday in May. There will be free tastings, an exhibition of pea-growing equipment, horse-drawn deliveries and a number of walks...
