Paul LANDOWSKI, sculptor born in Paris in 1875, was responsible for such major works as Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Monument du Chemin des Damnés, the Monument aux Morts in Algiers, and Sainte Geneviève, in 1933, created a bust of Henry de Jouvenel (1876 – 1935), who was editor-in-chief of Le Matin, Senator from 1921 to 1935, Minister of Public Instruction in 1924, High Commissioner to Syria and Lebanon from 1925 to 1926, and French Ambassador to Italy.
