La Maison Forte de Reignac
TURSAC
This extraordinary “château-falaise”, a listed historic monument, is undoubtedly the most secret, unusual and mysterious of the Périgord. Some even say it is haunted…
Preserved in an exceptional state since the 14th century and entirely furnished with period furniture, the Maison Forte de Reignac is the only monument of its kind in France to have survived completely intact.
This noble dwelling is of rare historical interest and is much larger than one might suspect from the outside. Behind the facade are hidden impressive underground and aerial rooms: the Great Hall, the Hall of Arms, the Great Men’s Hall, the kitchen, the chapel, the bedrooms, the dungeon…
The visit ends with an internationally renowned exhibition on the theme of “Torture in the Middle Ages” at no extra cost.
