The Duhamel name is closely linked to Tulle?s artistic history in the 17th and 18th centuries. This family of sculptors is notably responsible for the famous altarpiece in the church of Naves. At this meeting, art historian Olivier Geneste will take you back to the origins of this dynasty, following the career of Julien Duhamel, its founder. Through the works identified, you will gain a better understanding of the profession of sculptor during the Counter-Reformation period. Olivier Geneste holds a doctorate in art history and is the author of numerous books and articles on modern and contemporary sacred art. He is notably the author of Trésors baroques en Corrèze and Les Duhamel sculpteurs à Tulle aux XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles.
