Ciné-club : “Mr Turner ”
ALLASSAC
The film tells the story of the last 25 years of British painter William Turner (1775-1851).
A renowned artist and member of the Royal Academy, he lived with his father, who was also his assistant, and a devoted governess. He socialized with the aristocracy, visited brothels and drew inspiration from his many travels in Europe, on land and at sea. Despite his renown, he endured public sarcasm, as his light-in-the-mist compositions heralded the arrival of Impressionism a good half-century early. Timothy Spall lends his face to the artist?s face, winning numerous acting awards in the process, notably at the Cannes Film Festival.
