The Labenche Museum moves to the Lighthouse

Visit a museum without setting foot in it?

That's what the Musée Labenche is offering you while it's closed.

Brive's art and history museum is not remaining inactive during the works. In fact, it is offering you the chance to discover its collections through events and exhibitions at various locations around the city.

For the summer season, the Musée Labenche is taking up residence in the lighthouse. The walls of this iconic Brive landmark will be the setting for an exhibition.

It's a chance to rediscover Brive and the riches of its museum, through 15 reproductions of works (posters, oils, watercolours, etc.).

Once back down from the lighthouse, play the game and try to find the location of the shots before posting them on the museum's Instagram! Maybe you'll be rewarded!

The Labenche Museum

Founded in 1878 by the Société Scientifique, Historique et Archéologique de la Corrèze.

The diverse interests of its founders made it a multi-disciplinary place, which can still be seen in the variety of its current collections.

It became a municipal museum in 1883, and was housed in the Renaissance Hôtel de Labenche, which gave it its current name in 1989.

It has been a Musée de France since 2002, and presents the history of Brive and its region from its origins to the middle of the 20th century.
