The Guide du Routard Limousin 2023 is now available

Publié le 18 April 2025 par su_laetis

This year, the Guide du Routard celebrates its 50th anniversary! And to mark the occasion, it's getting a facelift, or rather a makeover.

The Routard spirit stands for freedom and independence of spirit, discovery and sharing, sincerity, tolerance and respect for others. It remains the number 1 travel guide in France.

We love the Routard guide for its good tips, its honesty and its favourites. More photos, rewritten texts, and new addresses to discover in the Brive region! We tell you all about it.

The Routard's new gourmet addresses

  • La Halle Gaillarde: with its array of world and local cuisine stalls!
  • La Cave du Pic Vert in Brive: and Pierre's good advice (we even learn that before the phylloxera epidemic at the end of the 19th century, the surface area of the vineyards in Correze was the same as that of the vineyards in Alsace!)
  • Les Vins d'Olivier in Larche: take the time to stop and chat with this wine enthusiast in this small village 15 minutes from Brive. Advice and oenology lessons guaranteed!
  • La ferme des Pins at Chartrier-Ferrière: where Sandrine and Gilles rear their sheep on the Causse Corrézien and produce cheeses and yoghurts, including the famous "fote des Bergères".
  • La Maison Lachèze: there's no need to introduce this institution in Saint Aulaire or Objat, where people come to sit down and enjoy a calf's head, in particular, or to break bread on market days.
  • Bistrot Potes in Donzenac: for simple, fresh, home-cooked food
  • Valentin le Glacier in Brive: for its range of organic ice creams in summer, and its waffles and hot chocolate in winter

New sites to discover

The La Roche site in Allassac: another Routard favourite, for its viewpoint over the Gorges de la Vézère and its landscaped area! You can even come here for a picnic or go Via Ferrata ! provided you're well equipped!

Sound advice from Le Routard

Our friends the PoHTes are making their debut in the Routard this year! A PoHTe can be a grocer's, a baker's, a café, a town hall, a post office, a newspaper shop... a village landmark that tourists just can't avoid! Objat, Juillac, Saint Robert and Donzenac are among those mentioned in the guide.

Produced in collaboration with the editors of the Guide du Routard and Brive Tourisme, it's a great way to put the spotlight on the service providers featured in this emblematic guide.

We'd like to thank the Guide du Routard for its excellent descriptions, which make you want to discover the Brive region.
