Reading nights in Corrèze

The media libraries of Brive-La-Gaillarde, Objat and Varetz are taking part in the Nuits de la lecture (Reading Nights) from 23 to 25 January 2025, with heritage as this year's theme.

This is the fourth edition organised by the Centre National du Livre. One thing's for sure: young people, teenagers and families are expected in the media libraries to enjoy a thrilling time!

Reading Nights in Brive-La-Gaillarde :

  • Friday 24 January 2025: Murder Party at the Médiathèque du Centre ville from 7pm to 8pm. The theme: who killed an American treasure hunter? Participants, who can come in disguise and armed with a pen and torch, will have "one hour to go and question the seven suspects, find the murder weapon and the murder scene. There will also be a games evening with the toy library from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Reservations required on 05 55 18 17 50.
  • Saturday 25 January 2025:
    - A songwriting workshop for children, with the group Du vent dans les bronches (from age 6, registration required), will kick off the day from 2.30pm to 5pm. "One of the songs written during the workshop will be sung to open the concert in the evening, at 8pm. At the Médiathèque in the town centre.
    - Cyrano literary game and readings on the theme of Heritage from 5pm to 9pm.
    - Pyjama Party from 6pm to 7pm. Come in your pyjamas with your cuddly toy to listen to some lovely, soft stories on the theme of heritage. Free admission for children aged 3 and over.
    - Games based on the sounds of musical extracts and songs from 7pm to 8pm, with a prize for the team with the lowest score.
    - Concert for young audiences (aged 2 and over) from 8-9pm with the group "Du vent dans les bronches" (registration required - limited to 100 people).

Reading nights in Objat

Thursday 23rd January

  • Objat's heritage. Using aerial photos from the 1950s of the town of Objat, secondary school pupils will play the game "Discover the history of your town". Sites will be selected from the photos (after a draw) and once found, a speaker will explain the history of the site in question. A host of documents and photos about our town will be on display for the occasion. An evening rich in discovery for the young people of the college. At the Collège from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Friday 24th January

  • Children's author. Reading of stories, poems and nursery rhymes on the theme of the culinary heritage of "our cultures". Performed and hosted by Sandrine MAGE, author and poet... From 9pm to 10pm at the Salle des Congrès in Objat.
  • Danced musical heritage: performed by 4 primary school classes: traditional dances and storytelling with explanations of the origins of the tales. A skit on the theme of musical heritage, performed by 7 teenagers from the Saint-Aulaire theatre group. At the Salle des Congrès from 7.30pm to 9pm.
  • Play: A sketch on the theme of musical heritage, performed by 7 young teenagers from the "Foyer rural de Saint-Aulaire" theatre group. From 7.30pm to 7.45pm at the Salle des Congrès in Objat.

Saturday 25th January

  • Meditative reading to the sound of the Tibetan bowl. Meditative reading workshop to the sound of the Tibetan bowl led by Cécile Silver and François Gruffat: readings aloud of poems and extracts from novels. Readings set to the rhythm of the sounds of various musical instruments. Participants relax and enjoy our rich literary heritage. From 4pm to 5.30pm at the Médiathèque in Objat.
  • Conference on the theme of heritage: Conference on the theme of heritage led by Louis-Olivier Vitté (author) in the presence of 6 other authors: Régine Rossi-LAGORCE (Le "matrimoine culinaire"), Jean-Michel Valade (Le patrimoine artistique entre autres.), Jean-Marc Plantade (safeguarding a heritage, the vine), Jean-Paul ABADIE (Authors from the association of peasant artists and writers), Jean-Claude Chataur (natural heritage) and Jean-Paul Malaval (family heritage...); not forgetting the literary heritage which will play a big part in this evening! At the Médiathèque in Objat from 8pm to 9.30pm.
  • Meetings and signing sessions with authors: Meetings and signing sessions with local authors after their talk on heritage: Jean-Paul Malaval, Louis-Olivier Vitté, Régine Rossi-Lagorce, Jean-Michel Valade, Jean-Marc Plantade, Jean-Paul Abadie and Jean-Claude Chataur. At the Médiathèque in Objat from 9.30pm to 10pm.

Reading night in Varetz

  • Friday 24th January 2025: The Varetz multimedia library invites you to a pyjama evening from 8pm to 10pm.
    The Varetz multimedia library invites you to a warm evening as part of the Reading Nights, on the theme of heritage. Come along in your pyjamas with your cuddly toys for a friendly pyjama evening where young and old alike will plunge into the world of traditional tales, some of which will be told in Occitan. This evening, accessible to children aged 3 and over, will be hosted by volunteers from the multimedia library, who will take you on a journey through the stories. An evening of discovery and sharing not to be missed!
