The Commanderie de Mons in Varetz was occupied by the Knights Templar from the 12th to the early 14th century, then by the Knights Hospitallers of the Order of Malta until the French Revolution.
Having become a private estate following its sale as national property during the Revolution and having belonged to several families, the site was not open to visitors until 2023. Visiting the site is therefore an exceptional opportunity, following the new owner's authorisation to open the premises.
Three exceptional visits are scheduled for the winter period. Scheduled for 6pm, they will be accompanied by torches.
A programme of exceptional visits:
Address : Le Temple - Impasse de la Commanderie - 19240 VARETZ
(Parking in the meadow at the entrance)
