On 12 April 2021, cinema-goers will discover the Brive region from an unexpected angle when the film Merrick is released on VOD platforms.
Brive and the surrounding area is a natural (and sometimes unrecognisable!) setting for the film, set in a post-apocalyptic world in 2027. They were the inspiration for director Benjamin Diouris, who has fallen in love with the region and wanted to set up his first feature film here. He is joined in this adventure by Brivé-based actor and producer Mickaël Etrillard, who also plays the title role.
You'll discover the village of Chasteaux and the Lac du Causse (where the team stayed), which provided the backdrop for Merrick 's adventures during the four weeks of filming.
The film - which was initially scheduled for release on the big screen - has also been selected for several festivals, including the Champs-Elysées Film Festival and the FIFIB (Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bordeaux).
The film will be available from 12 April 2021 on the main VOD platforms: Canal VOD, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Microsoft and Orange.
This is yet another source of pride for the region's inhabitants, who have already been used to seeing the Brive countryside and streets regularly in various film productions, both on the big and small screens(Présidents in 2020 with Jean Dujardin, Capitaine Marleau in 2020, Meurtres en Corrèze in 2019.... )
