Join us on Friday 18 August at 8.45pm at the Stade Amédée Domenech for a unique encounter between the Manu Samoa team and the British Barbarians!

The Manu-Samoa team sets its sights on the World Cup

This match has been organised as part of the Manu-Samoa team's preparations for the Rugby World Cup. The world's biggest rugby competition kicks off on 8 September in what promises to be an epic match between France and New Zealand.

The Manu-Samoa team, meanwhile, will kick off their competition on Saturday 16 September with a match against Chile.

This team of international renown has chosen the Gaillard region, a true rugby land with well-developed infrastructures, to prepare itself properly. They will be on site for a week with a programme of special training sessions, some of which will be open to the public (dates and venues to be announced shortly).

Rugby is a veritable religion in Samoa, and many of the country's international players hail from there. The team finished ¼ finalist in the World Cup in 1991, 1995 and runner-up in 1998.

The match takes place on Friday 18 August at 8.45pm at the Stade Amédée Domenech. There are two ways to get your tickets and make sure you don't miss this unique encounter:

Please note

  • Please note that one of the training sessions will be open to the public on Tuesday 15 August at 10am at Les Bouriottes.
  • Just before the Samoa / Barbarians warm-up match, for a full evening of rugby, watch the replay at the Municipal Stadium of the first match of the Agen/CAB season at 6.30pm.

And who are the British Barbarians?

This team was created in 1890 by students from Oxford and Cambridge universities. From the outset, the idea was to play touring matches during the off-season. The team has no home ground, no dressing room of its own and its players are identifiable by their distinctive kit: black and white shirts and shorts and socks from their home club. This selection brings together players who play an open, attacking game full of panache and daring, which promises to be a real spectacle!

The Barbarians will be able to count on the presence of a number of international players:
- Virimi Vakatawa, French international sevens and rugby union player (France / Racing)
- Antoine Frisch, Ireland
- Sbu Nkosi, South Africa
- Curtis Rona, Australia
- Alex Mitchell, England
- Toby Fricker, England
- Tim Nanai Williams, Samoa / Toulouse
