Hello all, Monday 17 March is St Patrick's Day! Since we at Brive Tourisme love beer and Ireland, we've come up with a few suggestions to help you get everything ready for the day.

Who was Saint Patrick?

Before we give you all the Irish goodies in Gaillard, a bit of history:

Saint Patrick is the story of an apostle who wasted no time in explaining the concept of Christianity to the Irish with a shamrock. As Patrick was a little late (4 centuries to be exact), he took the opportunity to chase all the snakes (representing ancient beliefs) off the island.

It's a bit like me explaining the concept of experiential tourism to you in flip-flops and suddenly your sunburn disappears.

Get some beer (the basics!)


We're lucky enough to have brewers in the Gaillard region, so now's the time to discover new products:

  • La Brasserie La BANOU: is open Tuesday to Thursday from 5pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 11pm and offers a wide choice of beers.
  • The Brasserie Canhopée in Voutezac is open Fridays from 4pm to 7.30pm and Mondays to Saturdays by appointment. It is also available from a number of sales outlets.

Making your own beer

Le Temps d'un Brassin (in Objat) invites you to discover the mysteries of beer-making. You can take part in a 4-hour workshop during which you will brew a beer that suits you. (Further information on 06 69 36 34 49)

Buying beer at your local wine shop

  • La Cave d'Erick in Meyssac: Find out all the latest news on their Facebook page.
  • La Cave du Pic Vert: Place your orders via Facebook, Instagram or the online shop: cavedupicvert.fr
  • La Cave Un Amour de Vin: You can order your favourite products and collect them from the shop during normal opening hours.
  • You can also visit theTourist Office reception (lighthouse), which has a range of beers for sale (La Banou).

Go to your favourite pub or bar to celebrate St Patrick's Day

Many bars, cafés and pubs will be celebrating St Patrick's Day*, even a little early...

  • Come and celebrate the legendary Irish festival atLa Banou on Friday 14 March! On the programme: an Irish music concert by Bécaflor... It'll be like being transported to Ireland.
  • The Barrio is offering a St Patrick's Weekend: Friday & Saturday: St Patrick's Night with Bruno Fish DJ set from 6pm to 1.30am. Green theme! Green decor! Over the 2 days: Fish & Chips-St Patrick cocktail-Pint of lager for €5-Goodies
  • Lemmy's Café is celebrating St Patrick's Day on 14 and 15 March. For the occasion, they've planned a surprise Guinness cocktail, Guinness kegs, gifts and great music! And who knows... maybe even an IV Nations trophy on Saturday night!
  • On Monday 17 March from 6pm,Le Watson will be hosting an aperitif concert with the group Bleu Charette Trio, featuring Live Irish & Celtic folk music, followed by Karaoke hosted by @michel capillon.
  • The Comité des Fêtes d'Allassac invites you to celebrate St Patrick's Day in a friendly and festive atmosphere with friends and family on Saturday 22 March. The evening will be hosted by Sébastien B. Get ready for some festive music with Sébastien B, who'll have you dancing the night away! To accompany this Irish-flavoured evening, a meal will be served for €17 (main course, dessert and beer). Doors open at 7pm. Bookings on 07.49.93.46.08
