Readers’ Prize
The Brive Readers' Prize will be awarded at the Foire du Livre.
The 2024 winner
After Adèle Bréau, winner in 2023 for her novel L'heure des femmes published by JC Lattès, it's Marion Brunet's turn to be rewarded for "Nos armes" published by Albin Michel.
Marion Brunet already won the Brive Children's Literature Prize in 2013 for her debut novel Frangine (Sarbacane).
In Nos armes, published by Albin Michel, Marion Brunet explores the shattered destiny of two young women in search of love and justice. The twenty members of the jury, aged between 24 and 74, who applied to the Brive media library, were moved and gripped by this prison story and the flashes of light that permeate it from start to finish.
She will be presented with her prize at the Foire du livre from 8 to 10 November. In Brive, Marion Brunet will be signing Nos armes at Halle Brassens and Ilos (Pocket jeunesse) at the Espace des Trois Provinces.
100% Gaillard readers
The Prix des lecteurs de la Ville de Brive is a literary award, a real favourite of the Gaillards.
Ten books are competing for this award, which aims to highlight a French novel of the literary year. The competition is organised by Brive's media library, and the jury is made up of volunteer readers who have read all the books and taken part in all the deliberations. A panel of librarians and avid readers of the 100% Gaillarde destination select the works beforehand.
In the end, the author receives a financial reward of €1,500 (in partnership with the company Suez), as well as a month's writing residency in Brive-la-Gaillarde.
