France is a country that is particularly keen on culture. Art, tradition and literature are all part of our heritage. And there are many awards to support literary creation.
The Brive Book Fair is a must for lovers of literature and literary competitions. Several prize-winners are represented in Brive-la-Gaillarde during the three days dedicated to authors and readers.
Prizes at the Book Fair
Some of the main literary prizes are awarded for the year's greatest literary success, such as the Goncourt, the Prix de la Langue Française and the Grand Prix de l'Académie Mallarmé for poetry.
Other prizes have been created in Brive, as part of the Foire du Livre, such as the Prix des lecteurs de la ville de Brive-Suez, which rewards a French novel of the literary season, and the Prix 12/17 Crédit Agricole, which promotes a work of literature for teenagers.
